CHARLESTON — ACTIVATOR, the Illinois Farm Bureau’s Political Involvement Fund, announced its endorsement of John Shimkus for re-election in the 15th Congressional District Republican primary to be held on March 15.
According to a press release, ACTIVATOR Trustee Committee Chairwoman Gale Koelling, president of the Washington County Farm Bureau, said, “John is a proven leader. He listens. He’s always accessible and has an incredible track record of supporting Farm Bureau on priority issues like EPA overregulation, renewable fuels, trade, and crop insurance.”
Shimkus noted, “Agriculture is a major economic force in the 15th District and the state. I am grateful to have the support of this important organization.”
“I am proud of my pro-ag voting records, including tax issues that are vital to keeping family farms in the family,” he said. “I promise to continue to be a vocal advocate for you.”
Shimkus has previously received the highest awards given by both the Illinois Farm Bureau (Charles B. Shuman Distinguished Service Award) and American Farm Bureau Federation (Golden Plow Award).
